This is a million miles away from the greasy / gloopy food you get at so many Thai places. The food is fresh and flavoursome, with no MSG in sight. The fun and feisty manager informed us that she buys her ingredients fresh every day from the nearby Thai supermarket on Chepstow Road - and it shows. I've had soups, salads, noodles and curries at Khao San and they were all top notch. Heartily recommended!
Khao San is my favourite Thai restaurant in London. The food is absolutely delicious -- i love the tom kha khai soup and the pad thai. The service is speedy and friendly, and you're never hurried out, even if they are busy. The food is as good as an upscale restaurant like Patara, but the prices are much, much lower. Good value, delicious food, great service.
Great food. Very friendly service. Highly recommended.
I am visiting London and thought this place has some of the best Thai food with original dishes and fresh ingredients. Enjoy.
After a 2 year hunt, I finally found the place to get my authentic Thai food fix in London. All the flavours and spices stay true to their equatorial roots. The lovely owner Pan cracked me up on our first meeting when she said "Here we serve authentic Thai food. Not fusion food. Fusion food is confusion food. We don't like to confuse our customers."
I've been coming back pretty much every fortnight since.
This is an excellent Thai restaurant, i have been there many times but also know some of the other Thai restaurants in the surrounding areas. Khao San is run by a very pleasent lady; Pan, and eating there with my wife last week we had the pleasure to chat with her half an hour. She and her brother prepare all the dishes individually; ie not using the same sauce base for different dishes. And no flavour enhancers are used such as MSG. Only the flavours of the wonderful fresh ingredients used. And it really shows. The food is very healthy eating, very light and fresh, very authentic... only she will reduce the hotness of the dish for some of us westerners unless we like to eat it as hat as the Thai's! The prices are very reasonable as well, eg a large freshly steamed sea bass is around £14. A homely atmosphere in this lovely little restaurant and well worth a visit.
Thai food is my favorite food, I have been plenty of time and lived for years between Thailand and South east asia ... So you can easily imagine i can discuss a bit about thai food, and appreciate a good one ...
Food is simply delicious and with a real taste of thailand, service is good and really welcoming ... Usually a lot of regulars from the neighborhood and plenty of people visiting Notting Hill make this place busy ... but it is always quiet and relaxing ...
Prices are really reasonnable for a fantastic food ...
An adress to know. to come, for take away and even delivery !!!

Excellent food and service. They prepared the food for a dinner party for 16 people and helped with the delivery to our house, piping hot with a few delicious things on top of the agreed menu. Couldn't recommend it more strongly. Their fried soft crab shell and steamed seabass with ginger were particularly fabulous.
Khoa San Restaurant has the most delicious Thai foods that u could ever find in London...All the foods are so fantastic with reasonable prices...
Very friendly owners and attentive service. This place serves the most authentic Thai cooking I have found in London, with a menu full of regional specialties that you won't find elsewhere. It is also very reasonably priced, and with generous portions.
